Singing
Mathew stumbled across his great voice whilst playing drums in a cabaret
show band in 1995. He was forced into singing some backing vocals and
both the band members and Mathew were quite impressed with the sound that
came out, backing vocals progressed into lead vocals and he grew to love
singing as much as his beloved drums!
Mathew performed professionally for five years in a duo call “Face
for Radio” performing in excess of 1100 gigs. During this time he
also sang for the Manchester based Soul band “Man Made Sole”
and he was front man for the Wirral based seventies tribute band “Superbad”.
In April 2005 he decided to go it alone and embarked on his solo career.
Since that time he has performed on average 240 gigs a year, in venues
as varied from pubs to clubs, to casinos and hotels, weddings, christenings,
festivals and corporate events.
He has been lucky enough to perform alongside some remarkably talented
artists including – Ray Lewis and the Drifters, Shayne Ward, Journey
South , Leon Lopez, Rowetta,90”s pop princess Sonia, countless Soap
stars even the legendary Frank Sidebottom! He has entertained guests at
high profile weddings including a Professional Footballer and a Soap Star
who has appeared in Emmerdale and Hollyoaks.
He genuinely loves his work and hopes this comes across on stage. He has
very comfortable singing in any situation be it a high profile black tie
event or a party with 250 wild party goers. He is one of the very few
people who go on stage without a planned set list; this makes each event
a unique experience.
Mathew likes to read an audience as he performs, going on without a set
list gives him the freedom to give the audience exactly what they want,
leaving the audience, the organiser and himself very happy.

Drumming
Mathew first ventured into the Music Business
at the tender age of 11 when he first picked up a pair of drumsticks,
after his Father insisted that he learn to read music, he grudgingly set
about the laborious task of learning his new trade, not sat a drum kit,
but sat at a table learning Musical theory from a book!
However once he had proved his ability to read music his Father bought
him his first drum kit. From that day onwards he began his love affair
with the drums.
He
looks back with great gratitude to his father and his Fathers insistence
on learning the correct way, this method has taken Mathew on so many musical
journeys that he could never have managed without the firm theoretical
foundations.
Over the years Mathew has played with many groups and bands including
soul band “Goodfellas”; Heavy Rockers “Destroyed”
and Cabaret show band “Destination Anywhere”. He has also
played on the more classical side of things where he has been principal
percussionist for the “young ambassadors of Great Britain Band”
on a tour of Belgium and Germany. He has played percussion with the “Point
of Ayr Colliery Band” playing numerous high profile and prestigious
venues in the UK and Europe including four appearances at the “Royal
Albert Hall”.
In 2003 Mathew made his debut as drummer in the orchestra for “UK
Productions” in the Rhyl Pavilion Theatre for the Pantomime
classic “ Cinderella” he has since gone on to play drums in
2004 “Peter Pan” and most recently 2007 “Aladdin”.
Matty has also played percussion for many Orchestras
including a performance at a World Premier of the Anthony Hopkins film
“August”.
